Barcelona!

We finally took a big family trip: a long weekend trip to Barcelona. The weather was lovely and the food and drink were divine. Barcelona won some big soccer championship that weekend and Ronaldinho was deified by Barcelona.

The beach was windy (hence the jacket) but that won't stop Nora.

Nora scaling a light post in front of the Arch de Triomf. I think that's how it's spelled in Catalan.

They like bikes in Spain.

Mmmmm...kitty.

Antoni Gaudi's Sagrada Familia church reflected in a pond.

Another, this one has the real one and the reflection.

Such a good traveler:

Munching on tapas, sipping wine and Cola Cao (hot cocoa) for Nora.

Pointing out the million kinds of fish tapas.

One of Gaudi's apartment buildings. He did not like straight lines, since there aren't any in nature.

A Gaudi apartment and office building.

Nora and Jack from the Parc Guel, overlooking the city.

Another view from the top.

The columns aren't even in straight lines.

Brandy's favorite part of the trip: the Labyrinth. It was so cool. The walls were about 12 feet high and it was quite a maze. We were all happy to find the middle and one another. I was dreading having to explain to everyone how we lost Nora.

Yeah, Labyrinth!

Groovy, baby...

Homeward bound.

Yeah Jack!!! I'm so HAPPY to see a photo of Nora pulling her little wheelie bag behind her. That was the ONE photo op from Christmas that I really wanted and we all seemed to miss somehow. Loved all the photos (but, of course, the ones of Nora the best:-) Glad you FOUND her in the labryinth!!!! Sherry

We are from Long Island, now living 1 hour SE of Rome. My son is also in the 2nd grade--and I relate to ALL your posts about your frustrations with the school system here!!! We were in Barcelona for New Years 2005/06 and had a great time. Love your blog, diane (debp1234 at yahoo dot com)

Hi Diane--We're thinking of moving to the outskirts of Rome, but we're not sure where or which direction. SE? Is that near Velletri? We might be near you soon.

Funny to see the money cat in Spain. They're Japanese and putting one in a shop window will ensure brisk business. The cat's paw is raking in the cash.

Very interesting article. I really enjoyed reading. I visited Barcelona once. The works of Antoni Gaudi dominate the city of Barcelona. Though the city is both modern and cosmopolitan in nature, it has a rich history in architecture and the arts. The Sagrada Familia is probably the most well known of Gaudi’s works, and is known as a symbol of Barcelona across the entire world.
Barcelona has a good infrastructure and welcome for tourists. . Also I liked that many of Barcelona hotels is not expensive and offering free transfer from airport.
There 7 beautiful beaches and a lot of parks, which I liked very much. It is really amazing city with it's own magic atmosphere

Really liked your blog, you remind me my trip to Barcelona. It is amazing and fascinating city. We went to many many tourist spots like La Pedrera, Sagrada Familia, FC Barcelona Stadium, Guell Park, Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya with its music fountain, Barceloneta Beach etc. Almost whole of Barcelona is 'made by' one architect named Gaudi. His inspiration of shapes from the nature made him put all his ideas into buildings, making almost the whole Barcelona looks amazing. We walked around a lot, took many pics, did many crazy stuffs together, and had some Spanish food(Paella, seafoods etc) n Spanish drink (Sangria, Horchata).
